A short, steep hike to a beautiful, picturesque lake. Bring a bathing suit for a very cold dip. For a much longer hike and two more lake visits, check out Flora Lake Trail and Lindeman-Greendrop Trail Loop

A short hike with a few moderately steep sections, often popular for families with kids. How many teapots and tea cups can you spot on your way up?

Excellent views of some very large cedars. If the short 7 Sisters trail isn’t enough, there are additional trail options that continue. Conveniently located close to the very popular Cultus Lake.

A local favourite—easy access, well-maintained, and a solid workout that still gets you back before your next meal. The lookout views are well worth it. I like starting via the Thom Creek Trail.

A very popular trail—but don’t be fooled. No meandering here—just a steady climb straight to the point, earning its half-day status. Tired legs are rewarded with incredible views. Want more? Continue to Mount Thurston, or push on to Mount Mercer.

This is one of those trails I love in every season. Fall fog gives the forest an eerie feel early on, winter brings a quiet blanket of snow, and spring and summer fill everything in with thick, vibrant greenery. The final push to the viewpoint is worth it—ropes and cables are installed to assist on the climb.

Chilliwack’s most iconic mountain—every local knows Mount Cheam. It’s a challenging climb, but the reward is worth it, with some of the best panoramic views in the Fraser Valley.

A tough climb through steep forested switchbacks to Lower Pierce Lake, tucked below Mount MacFarlane. It’s a grind getting there, but the lake makes it worth it. From here, you can head back, camp, or continue up to Upper Pierce Lake.

Useful Resources

Get stimulated and carb-loaded for your hike.

What we love about Land: Relaxed, slightly rustic interior or outside seating above the Vedder River. Good coffee, and if you’re eating, get the Surfer’s Burrito Bowl. Works before or after — sit down or grab and go.

What we love about Mylk & Honey: A family-run coffee truck right on the Rotary Trail along the Vedder River — the family members themselves are the ones serving you. Good coffee in a great spot. A few large playgrounds and off-leash dog parks are nearby if you’re out with kids or dogs.

High-protein meals and shakes near the Vedder Highway 1 entrance. Good after any physical activity if you want to refuel without the usual café options.

What we love about Cultivate Cafe: Good breakfast, good coffee, downtown Chilliwack. A good stop if you’re heading out from that end of town and want a proper sit-down before hitting the trails.

Great coffee and fresh pastries—simple, quick, and exactly what you want from a good cafe.

What we love about HEAL Smoothies: Smoothies, bowls, and caffeinated blends that hit both the energy and recovery angle. If you want something other than coffee before or after a hike, this is the stop.

Saw the sites? Here are solid local spots to refuel after a day on the trails.

Wood-fired pizza and locally brewed craft beer in a relaxed setting. Great food & atmosphere, and a popular spot amongst locals.

Tasty Mexican food and a relaxed vibe—perfect after a hike. Also in District 1881.

Grab a beer and pizza on the patio just above the Chilliwack River then pop over to Banter Ice Cream a few doors down.

A favourite for many locals and Cultus Lake visitors. Banter goes beyond your typical ice cream flavours, offering creative and seasonal options. If you get a chance, try the Malted Mini Egg when available in the Spring – this one is my wife’s favourite.
